I remember walking around Marquette Park late at night with this dude in a local band (the first of many, many musicians that I would end up crushing on) singing “Whistling in the Dark.” He gave me his army-green trench coat, which he’d hand-stenciled with the Nine Inch Nails logo. Twenty-two years later, I still have that trench coat somewhere.
