More than a decade ago, I lived in a tiny coach house in the Archer Heights neighborhood on Chicago’s Southwest Side, just down the alley from the Pulaski stop on the Orange Line. I still miss that little place, with the drum kit in the living room and the great Polish deli a couple of blocks over on Archer Avenue. (I don’t have any fond memories of the crazy landlady, though. What is it about Chicago landlords? I have yet to met anyone who has rented from a good one).(Artwork source: The Chicago Neighborhoods)
